X-ray Tube Manufacturing

Fine craftmanship and a fully controlled process.

X-ray Tube Manufacturing

The manufacturing of high-quality X-ray tubes involves several crucial steps that ensure the precision and reliability of the final product. Here is a description of the typical process steps:

  1. Material Preparation: Parts are manufactured with specific material specifications, surface finishes, and contamination controls to ensure quality and performance.
  2. Cleaning: Proprietary cleaning protocols are employed to remove residues, such as cutting fluid, from the manufacturing process.
  3. Treatment: Parts undergo annealing to achieve ultra-clean surfaces.
  4. Sub-Assembly Construction: Components like the cathode assembly are built in a clean room environment to maintain cleanliness and precision.
  5. Glass Work: This step requires precise timing and craftsmanship to ensure the quality of the glass components.
  6. Vacuum Baking: The entire tube is baked to achieve the required vacuum level, which is crucial for the tube's longevity.
  7. Quality Control: The dimensions, glass seals, and other critical parameters are rigorously checked to ensure they meet quality standards.
  8. Image Characterization: Measurements such as focal spot size are conducted to verify the tube's imaging capabilities.

Luxbright is equipped with the necessary technology, including an ISO Class 7 clean room and advanced pump technology, to produce high-quality X-ray tubes. Achieving the correct vacuum level in the finished tube is essential for ensuring a long-lasting, sealed X-ray tube

Hydrogen heat treatment furnace

Making X-rays is not only about science; it’s an art, requiring cutting-edge materials, precise design, and a proprietary "secret sauce" of advanced processes.

One example is our Hydrogen heat treatment furnace. This step give ultra-clean components, enabling even lower vacuum levels in our X-ray tubes — a critical factor for superior performance.

Cleanroom, class 7 – a vital part of our production process

At Luxbright, precision and cleanliness go hand in hand. Our Class 7 cleanroom plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of our X-ray tube components. We use this controlled environment for cleaning, assembly and laser welding - all essential steps where even the smallest particle can make a big difference.

By maintaining strict cleanliness standards throughout the production process, we ensure the reliability and performance of every product we deliver. It’s all part of our mission to bring advanced X-ray technology to life.

Nitrogen cabinets protect our components

In our production, controlling every step of the process is not just an ambition – it is a necessity. Hence we have great capacity in nitrogen cabinets.

Why does it matter? Because every component that passes through these cabinets finds its way into our X-ray tubes.

Our cabinets:

  • Protect against moisture and temperature fluctuations
  • Feature automatic environmental monitoring to keep everything within strict, safe limits
  • Provide optimal storage conditions for sensitive components until they are needed

This might not be the most visible part of what we do – but it is exactly the kind of detail that makes a difference in the long run.
